Kundalini Yoga Offering

An offering from Avtar Sivitri Kaur (Amisha):

Hello dear ones!

I hope you all are tasting some of the spring sweetness that is popping up all around us.

For the past 9 months, I have been studying and preparing myself to teach kundalini yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan).I have just finished my 200hour teacher training, and I’m stoked to let you all know that I’m going to be offering a weekly, by donation, class in Duvall.

Kundalini is the yoga of awareness. It uses the coordination of breath and movement, mantra, and deep relaxation to move the subtle energy in the body. It’s nothing like the Hatha Yoga that you may or may not have been exposed to/participated in/taught/etc. Where hatha mostly uses postures that make your body stronger, kundalini is more about moving energy, stimulating glands, organs and blood chemistry, clearing chakras and connecting to source. Movements, exercises and awareness inspired by Joseph Pilates will also be woven into the classes. When we finish, there will be an optional 15 or 20 minutes of authentic, free movement and dance (ecstatic dance).

Classes will begin May 21st, and will be held from 7-8:30/9pm, every Monday (except for the first Monday of every month) up at my land off of Mountain View. The day and time will likely change to Wednesdays at 7-8:30/9 in the fall.

I am offering this as a donation based class. In the laws of kundalini land, students must give something to receive. When Yogi Bhajan was first teaching in Los Angeles in the 1960’s, he felt like his teachings were so important for people to know, so useful and healing, that he would leave change on the ground so people with very little money would have something to give, and come to class.

I want to make this technology available, as well as accessible, and I am suggesting a donation of between $8-15.

Bring a yoga mat and a blanket. You are welcome to bring the traditional kundalini sheepskin to sit on, or a pillow to prop yourself up if you know that you’ll be more comfortable, given we’ll be sitting much of the time. If you don’t have a mat or a blanket, i have a few extra.

Class will be on my land, The Woodland Workshop. If you want the address and driving directions (you *will* need them), or have more questions for me, please respond to yoga18@barefootvillage.org and I’ll get back to ya.

This class is open to all community members, friends and family, so please pass this information on if you know someone who might be interested.

Blessings to each one of you.
Sat nam!
